Tornto IP is an independent think tank that researches and advises on diverse aspects of innovation, intelelctual property rights , media law, digital law, and the legal challenges associated with deployment of information technology or artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-run diverse digital technologies.

Mahatab Uddin

Founder

Mahatab Uddin, Ph.D. in Law (Aarhus), LL.M (Intellectual Property Law) (Stockholm), MSc. (Sustainable Development) (Uppsala) is an expert on intellectual property law, technology law and diverse branches of public international laws on climate chnage sustainable development.

His advanced-level scholarly contributions in the fields of intellectual property law, technology law, and sustainable development have been published by various leading journals and well-reputed publishers of the world. He is the Chief Editor of IP & Brand Bulletin, a quarterly published on-line magazine.

Mahatab taught at diverse universities in Asia, Europe, and North America. He is an adjunct professor and post-doctoral researcher at the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph, Canada, where he researches possible legal frameworks for AI-run climate-smart agricultural practices. Md. Saimum Reza Talukder

Director

Md. Saimum Reza Talukder holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the BRAC University School of Law. Mr. Saimum is a member of the Artificial Intelligence Working Group (AIWG), an initiative of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College, USA. The AIWG focuses on the intersections between Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing their societal impact in a democratic environment. He also participates in the Bangladesh Internet Freedom Initiative Working Group, a civil society project backed by regional and global non-governmental organizations. Mr. Saimum now concentrates on the legal facets of Big Data, AI, digital rights, and net neutrality. Mr. Saimum possesses a specialized Master’s degree in Law and Digital Technologies from Leiden University, Netherlands. He has finished his LLM and LLB at the University of Chittagong. He also received a post-graduate diploma in Social Innovation in a Digital Context from Lund University, Sweden.

Muhammed Atiqur Rahman

Muhammed Atiqur Rahman, PhD in Law (Macquire), LL.M (Intellectual Property Law) (Lund) is a highly accomplished and respected university teacher with specialized expertise in intellectual property law.

He delved deep into the nuances of intellectual property law, understanding the intricacies of the subject. Driven by a passion for fostering creativity and protecting innovation, he devoted himself to unraveling the complex legal frameworks governing intellectual property rights.

Dr. Atiq is also actively involved in research, publication, and community services. His unwavering commitment to intellectual property law and his impact on legal education have earned him numerous scholarships throughout his career.
